Mark is one of Australia’s leading legal experts in the areas of energy and climate change regulation. He is the founder and managing director of White Legal and has more than 25 years’ experience in energy and resources law. Mark was previously a partner at Blake Dawson (now Ashurst Australia).
Mark’s expertise covers all aspects of energy and resources projects, particularly the drafting and negotiating of derivative contracts and advising on regulatory issues impacting on participants in the electricity industry. Mark has experience as both an external and in-house adviser, and acts for some of Australia’s largest energy companies.
Mark is listed as a leading Energy and Resources lawyer in the current editions of Chambers and Partners, Doyle’s Guide and Best Lawyers.

Joy is one of the most experienced energy and resources lawyers in the country. She has been a key legal advisor in some of the most significant energy transactions in Australia, including the privatisation of the Loy Yang B Power Station, the establishment of the National Electricity Market, the establishment, development, acquisition and disposition of various energy utilities (retailers, electricity and gas networks and generators), CSG developments and the implementation of the National Energy Customer Framework. Her expertise also includes large retail customer contracts, gas supply agreements, coal supply agreements, joint venture and operating agreements, connection agreements, retail and solar arrangements, electricity derivatives, advising on various regulatory issues in the electricity and gas sector and negotiating with State and Federal Governments for various support packages.
Fiona is an energy law specialist who has assisted a variety of participants in the energy industry to achieve their goals over the last 20 years. She has worked both at top-tier law firms and in-house at listed and government-owned businesses.
In addition to her extensive legal knowledge, Fiona’s previous science career enables her to understand the underlying technical challenges associated with connection, operation, market participation and market development so as to produce clear, comprehensive and practical legal advice that is relevant in the current rapidly-evolving energy landscape.
Andrea has extensive energy and resources industry experience, having worked as in-house counsel with energy retailers and mining companies for almost 15 years. Prior to joining White Legal in 2013, Andrea held a senior role at an international law firm.
Andrea’s expertise includes all aspects of retail energy regulation across all jurisdictions in Australia. She also has extensive procurement and contracting knowledge and advises clients on the development of innovative energy technologies and projects. Andrea brings a pragmatic, commercial approach to legal issues that is solutions-driven to add value to her clients’ businesses.
